Rainbow baby. Positive induction story
My long awaited rainbow baby birth story. After 4 losses.
On November 8th @ 7pm I was admitted into the hospital for induction. I have a blood clotting disorder so they decided to start induction at 39 weeks. When I got there it was a lot of paperwork and questions, etc. Finally, around 10 or so I got the cervidil placed. Ouch. That hurts more than a cervix check. I was between 1 and 2 CM when she placed it. Then she gave me something to help me sleep 😊😴. Next morning I woke up and thought omg I have the worst gas ever. It felt like I was going to be constipated. So I ask my husband to go down and make our coffee and grab us something light to eat. He goes and I unhook my monitors to go pee and as soon as I get to the bathroom, my water breaks (around 8am)!! I page the nurse. She asks me if I have been feeling the contractions (remember that gas?! Not gas. 😂). I tell her no and then we find out that I'm probably not constipated, just in labor! Lol. New nurse is here now, and she comes in to meet me just at that time. She checks me (nice to meet ya! Lol) and I'm still only a 2ish dilated. They let me just hang out and have my coffee and granola bar till around 10 and they take the cervidil out and start me on antibiotics for strep b and then pitocin to get those contractions going strong. Holy bananas you guys. Pitocin contractions are no fricking joke. I went from "oh it's like gas" at 2 cm to "holy forking shirt balls give me an epidural" at 5cm in a matter of 3 hours. Aaaaaahhhhh. Anyways yes I got an epidural at 5cm. So worth it. My body wanted me to move around and I was ready to throw up and pass out. plus being hooked to monitors and iv it just wasnt realistic in my circumstances...So anyways I kept progressing and around 5pm I was fully dilated and effaced but baby was still way up there so I did some practice pushes for about 20 minutes and then labored down. The nurse contorted me in all sorts of weird positions to make him come down further. My doc left and the on call doc was in the building somewhere. Around 6.15pm he was finally down in position to push for real so we started the real thing. I pushed for 20 minutes and then the nurse said... you gotta hold off for the next couple contractions because we need to call the doctor up here!!! They obviously (first time mom and induction) did not expect him to come so fast. I think what helped is that for some reason there was a spot in my pelvis where I could feel contractions yet and very strong so I knew exactly when to push. And my nurse and husband were amazing at coaching me. When the doc got there I pushed 3 times per contraction for 2 contractions and baby boy was born at 6.46pm @ 8lbs 5oz 😊 on nov 9th
