Need advice about induction

So at my 34 week appt today, Dr. told me to think about if I might want to be induced at 39 weeks. She suggested it because my daughter was 9lbs at 40wk6days and I had a 3rd degree tear. This doesnt really seem like a "medical enough" reason for me so I'm hoping to hear some of your opinions. I delivered my daughter with no epidural which I was hoping to do this time around as well but I know that its much harder with Pitocin. Last time they did start Pitocin in order to speed things up but I assume an Induction will require a higher dosage and I might need the epidural. Would love to hear what you guys think and if anyone has been induced in the past--did anyone do so without pain meds?
