Induction/detailed birth story

Kelly • Kelly

Today I would have been 39 weeks and heading into the hospital to start my induction due to high blood pressure in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Little did I know that a week ago exactly I would be starting the process early. Here's my day by day:

Due date 12/17

Induction date 12/10

Hospital admission 12/3

Monday the 3rd I went in for my normal ob check up with NST to follow. At the hospital after my appt my blood pressure continued to rise....from 138 to 165. When that continued to trend they decided to admit me and get the process started. ( in my head I was going home to do the list of shit I had to do b4 my baby came into this world!! They say things never go as planned!) So I get moved into the room that I would be delivering in, and try to wrap my head around the fact that I'm going to be having my baby within days! Lots of blood work and blood pressure readings. My fiance comes shortly after my crying phone call of I guess in not going home today babe! I really wanted that extra week to prepare and for my little man to cook longer!! So Monday night they start miso tablets to ripen the cervix...with the plan to start pitocin in the morning. I was given a shot of morphine and something else I can't remember the name of, looking back I wish i didnt they made me throw up instantly. Although it did help me sleep through thur night.

Tuesday morning I was checked and thur miso tabs didnt work. Go figure. In the afternoon we're started the pitocin drip going thst would move things alongand it did not. Tuesday is kinda of a blur to me! I whinr can on miso tabs over night abs took a break from pitocin.

Wednesday morning the doctor decided since nothing was dealt feeling that it was time to break my water and then do more pitocin. Getting your water broke is interesting feeling I can say that much! Oh and indent think that I have mentioned that this while time i had been on magnesium drip for my blood pressure which literally made me feel like I hadn't slept in 2 weeks and was hungover. ( awful) so after my water broke we started pitocin again and shit got real! I didnt want to be the person to have to say this after reading so many birth stories but for me, labor and delivery was absolutely awful. I couldn't take the pain of the contractions any longer so around midnight I got an epidural. This takes us into...

Thursday and the epidural was magical. It did not hurt at all, and bc u was in so.much pain they did a something I think they called abolus?!?! Which is like a direct shot of the epidural vs the iv drip? I believe. This made me exausted, and I got some rest b4 it was time to try to push again. Unfortunately I woke up in pain. And had to push thru that b4 they gave another dose of the epidural. 3 times.... the last one made my upper back hurt like hell. Not to mention I have suffered from severe carpal tunnel and trying to hold my legs back and lift my back up to push was excruciating! Pushing was very hard for me. I couldnt of done it without my fiance who literally lifted my back every push and talked me through it the whole time. The doctor ended up having to use the vacuum on my little boy.....and on the 7th try the vac slipped off inside me and ended up leaving s ring of pulled skin off my babys scalp. After that he said yebeas going to try one more time with the vac and if unsuccessful it was time for a s section. Some how with god help and my determination, my fiances encouragement and the doctors strength we got my little man out at 4:54am 12/6 and he was 7lbs 3oz!! I didnt get to see him until hours after bc I needed to be stitched from the 2nd degree tear, and u hemorrhaged s little bit. And my baby was also affected by the magnesium drip so he was slow to start breathing on his own. But he was here and crying and that's all that mattered to me!

I will say this was the hardest damn thing I have ever done. And I will never do it again. But my baby is precious and I'm si glad that he is here!

Unfortunately we are STILL at the hospital Monday 12/10 my original induction date ( I am so glad its over!!!lol) my lil guy had to be under the lights for jaundice for a day and then suddenly I had a spike in my blood pressure sat which keep us through Sunday and here we are Monday waiting to be discharged with my fingers crossed. I took some meds and my numbers went down to 135 this morning. Jaydens Billy Reuben is being tested again and if all is well we will be going HOME!! I can't be in these 4 walls or this bed ANY longer!!! Good luck to all you soon to be mommies out there. I think I had a pretty rough and trying experience and it was still all worth it!!!!!

Ps anyone following bc of carpal tunnel syndrome my.m hands still are numb! But I've retained ALOT of fluid. I'm still very swollen so hopefully this will resolve in the next couple weeks!!
