Is this a verbally abusive relationship?

We have been together 3 years now, in the beginning it was great but now it’s not so great he literally wants to argue with me every night about STUPID stuff and it escalates from there he says very hurtful things like calling me a dumb cunt and I can go live with my mom and I’m dumb or I’m a dumb whore etc... it literally is happening everyday I sometimes feel like I am walking on egg shells when I am around him because I don’t know when he is going to explode about something I have went to bed 3 nights now crying, he comes in and acts like nothing ever happened and try’s to have sex with me. I don’t get it, but last night was the very first time he grabbed my wrists super hard and got right in my face. It scared me I didn’t know what was gonna happen next so I kicked him and ran in the bedroom and locked the door... I can’t do this anymore.
