Durability of Apple watches/other fitness watches?

I really want a good fitness watch to help me track steps/ one that is also convenient to look at quick messages, time etc. while at work.

The last watch I had (3PLUS lite) got ruined due to water so need one that is pretty water resistant (probably shouldn’t have worn it while bathing dogs but I used to submerge it in water washing dishes at my old job so thought nothing of it)

I work at a doggy daycare/boarding so need one that will hold up to scratches, water and won’t come off easily.
