There was a murder last night......

There was a murder where I live last night. It has rocked the community and not in a good way. I still live in my hometown. A little farming community in the middle of nowhere in the south. All the stores are mostly on Main Street and we still have a small, standard, Walmart that hasn’t really been updated since the 90s.

But there was a murder last night. It was crazy. Nobody was expecting it. It was a shooting, really. Two kids shot. One was 17, he was shot and killed on site. The other was shot and severely injured. He was airlifted to a hospital almost 3 hours away. He had to have surgery and he’s still unconscious. Right now the state police believe that it was a drug deal gone bad but they still don’t know for sure. The only known witness, as of right now, is the unconscious victim in the hospital. I can’t believe this is happening. Nothing like this has ever happened around here. You don’t think of things happening like that in small towns like ours.

It all started at a party....a party my younger cousin was at. He’s 18 and had left about two hours before this all took place. He got arrested on his way home for a DWI. God bless his stupid soul. The reason cops are thinking it was a drug deal gone bad is because other kids reported the two boys who were shot leaving the party supposedly to go purchase some drugs from a dealer in the next town over 40 minutes away.

There have been surprised, sorrowful, deaths in the area over the years but never murder. Not since the 50s I believe, and they were never able to prove that was a murder anyway. Most people think the poor girl just went out playing unsupervised and got stuck in the farm equipment. Tragic.

I just. I’m in shock. This is outrageous. We need justice.
