How much savings did you have at 22? 
Feel so relieved to find out it's not just me who doesn't have any savings!! My partner is 20 and has £4,000 so far in savings so I felt like a bit of a failure!

At 22 I had about $5k in the savings and about $2k in the bank. 
However, I lived on campus all four years, so my "rent" was considered tuition and put on my student loans. And I worked full-time every summer, and part-time for two winter breaks and 5/8 semesters. 
In contrast, my BF had $500 in the bank when he graduated at 23. He also lived on campus every year but he only worked part-time for 1/8 semesters and super (5 hrs a week) part-time one summer. 
I'm another example and from word of mouth from my mom: my sister has about $1k saved. She's 20 and works a full time job and a part time job. But she spends like crazy and probably $800 of her $1000 is being held in my parents' account because my sister doesn't trust herself enough not to spend it.
No one amount is normal. Everyone saves and spends differently 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had about $30k at 22. I joined the military and made rank very fast.  I was a single young gal maki g more money than I needed with all my expenses covered.  Being on a ship I had 3 meals a day, free gym, my commute to work and town was 5 minutes.  I mean I just got super lucky. Essentially I make 5k/month with only 500$ expenses. So I threw it all in savings for several years.

I had a mortgage at 20 so I saved up a lot before then but not that much now 2 kids later lol
