D dimer test?

Anyone had a high d dimer test mine was at 1100 at the ER and the doctor didn’t say why.. 
Yes I’m following up with my regular doctor this week.
I have had a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism at the end of 2017 and a small one at the end of 2018.

Elevated ddimer can be indicative of pulmonary embolisms. I’m surprised they didn’t do a scan, especially given your history.

At my job, it’s ordered when the doc suspects a possible blood clot. But when the test is high, they usually do more tests to confirm that. For example, one of the patients with shortness of breath and a high ddimer level got a chest CT with contrast to rule out clot in the lungs. 
Not every ER doc is good at explaining results. I’d go to my primary doc to get more information and to see if I need additional tests. 
This is a simple explanation from web md:
A  D-dimer test is a blood test that can be used to help rule out the presence of a serious blood clot.
If your result is "negative," you most likely don’t have a problem with blood clots, such as DVT.
If your result is "high," it means you’ll need more testing to see whether you have a blood clot. This test can’t confirm that you have DVT or PE. It can only help rule them out.
You can also get a high result for reasons other than a clot.
