How much should we be spending on groceries per month?

This includes food and other necessities (toilet paper, tooth paste, etc).
It's just my husband and I along with 2 big dogs and a cat. We live in the Midwest.

Save your receipts, see how much you send on average, and seperate the money. I save $240 every 2 weeks in cash for food ($120 a week) and $100 for the whole month for other necessities. That way we dont spend money on things we dont need and if we spend less than what we separated then we keep the money for ourselves, add it to other bills, or put it in your savings bucket.

It varies on a lot of things.👌🏾 We spend $700-$800 on groceries per month, sometime more. Usually, we purchase household cleaning supplies in bulk so we do not have to purchase those every month. We grocery shop every two weeks and spend about $350-$400, which adds up to about $700-$800 per month. It's for two adults (my husband and I) and our 15-month old daughter. I love to cook so we barely eat out unless we are on vacation. Even then, I usually cook because we usually stay in a condo when on vacation. We also eat very healthy so that's not cheap. My husband is a college football coach and because of his unpredictable schedule, he takes multiple meals and snacks to work with him. I am self-employed so therefore my daughter and I are eating well-balanced meals and snacks throughout the day, even when we are out and about. The cost of groceries just varies for each household.🤷🏾‍♀️👍🏾

It likely varies with where you live but we spend around $300-$350/month (2 adults no pets). We shop the sales and clearance often and only go to the better grocery stores (in my opinion it's Safeway is the best option where I live) when it's customer appreciation (first Tuesday of the month - save 10%). I also plan our dinners and some lunches at the beginning of the month so we do a large shop on that first Tuesday and make that food last most of the month.
