Can IBS flare up cause blood?

I had an IBS flare up this morning and some mucus was involved, which isn’t rare for me. But this time within the mucus was this blood. Is this normal for IBS?

Are you constipated? I have IBS that alternates. But constipated one can cause some blood from hard stools and friction when the IBS flairs. If not I'd go to the doctor and make sure you don't have chrons

I have ulcerative colitis (IBD). If you start seeing blood that’s probably not a good sign. Pay attention to the color and amount. If it happens once it’s probably okay but after a few days of bleeding, go see your gastrointestinal doctor. You could have strained yourself from going, but it could also be more serious.
