I saw on YouTube someone who was waking her son up to get him to feed. Why do you do that? I thought you feed them when they look hungry. I’m so confused!!! Help! Lol

Babies that haven’t gotten back up to their birth weight or are having difficulty gaining enough weight need to eat on a certain schedule until those problems are resolved. As long as a baby is over their birth weight and have no other weight or medical issues, they can sleep as long as they want and feed on demand. 
Babies are usually born with their nights and days flipped so sometimes parents choose to wake their baby up after a certain amount of time to feed and encourage babies to push their longer stretch of sleep to overnight instead of the middle of the day.

I woke my son up every two hours to feed until he got back up to birth weight.

When I first brought my daughter home I had to wake her up the first few weeks to feed because she didn't wake herself. We discovered this when she slept for 12 hours, she would have slept longer if we didn't wake her. Now she lets me know when she wants to eat and it's always!
