Toddler won’t go to sleep in crib

Brooke • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👼🏻🌈

Hello so my 2 year old who as always slept amazing and would go down every night without a fight will not go to sleep in his crib unless me or my husband are in the room with him and when he finally falls asleep and we leave he wakes up screaming and crying! Any suggestions on what we could do to help him feel better about sleeping in his room.

He’s probably sensing something not right. Idk if you believe in spiritual stuff. But if there’s a bad energy that he could be sensing it will make him feel uneasy. It’s hard to say.

My daughter started to do this a few months ago, she was my amazing sleeper! I’d just walk her over to the crib and she’d hang onto me screaming. After about 3 weeks of this I finally was like you know what let’s see what she does with a toddler bed. We took the side off put up the railing and she went back to sleeping great! Then 2 months later she started waking up getting out of bed multiple times a night sleeping in our bed, put a twin mattress on the floor in her room and she’s been sleeping pretty well with the occasional wake up but now it’s around 5:30 am instead of every hour of the night. Apparently she was just outgrowing the crib then the toddler bed. I dont know if this would help him or not, maybe he’s just needing more space to sleep.

I was hesitant at first because everyone I talked too said they’ll tell you, well she’s now 22 months and still doesn’t say much, so I took her screaming as her way of telling me she was done with the crib. And if it didn’t work then we’d put it back together and try something else. Thankfully we didn’t have too

We think this is what is causing our 21 month old son to suddenly stop sleeping as well! Time to transition! Haven’t done it yet just because new baby is due any day

Try giving him a shirt that smells like you to cuddle with your maybe a pillow of yours

Does he have a nightlight and a sound machine? Those were a must for my toddler. When he could see his surroundings a bit he seemed less intimidated and the sound machine helped keep him in a deeper sleep for longer periods of time

I’ve heard there is one around that time but I can’t remember if we dealt with it! Good luck momma! Sorry I wasn’t much help. Hopefully it passes soon

Oh yes he always has had one and we recently bought him a new one thinking maybe that would help. We are so tired lol I hope this is some sort of sleep regression.
