Name change divorce technicalities
Okay so here's a tricky question. I just finalized my divorce. I got my divorce papers with the document saying my name is changed back to my former name. Maiden name.
I have set up an appointment with the social security office. After I go to my appointment and have my name changed in the system... I will have to wait 7 to ten days to get my new card saying my maiden name. I'm wanting to get on this quickly because The child support agency has put everything in my maiden name, I'm in graduate school I need to change my medical licenses and everything in school over to my maiden name as soon as possible as well and the process is a little lengthy. Instead waiting for my new card to come in can I use my old card that I have that has my maiden name on it to go get my ID changed back over and everything including having my court papers or do I have to wait for my new card? I know it wouldn't think that it would matter but I did notice there is an issue date in fine print at the bottom of the social security card. Which is from awhile ago. So I don't know if it's going to matter or not?
