Kind of surprising kind of not...

My horse has been a thousand times friendlier since I became pregnant. She runs to the fence and relishes her pets as often as I’ll indulge her.

Here in the past couple of months she’s really been interested in giving me a good sniff down. To include my face, hands, and now my belly. My husband and I think she could be reacting to my pregnancy. I mean I wouldn’t be surprised they’re very intuitive creatures, but honestly I never would have expected a response like hers.

Honestly at first it made me uncomfortable. I wouldn’t normally allow a horse to put their nose in my face, on my hands, etc. Their bites are excruciating and can do a lot of damage, and as her owner it’s my job to make sure she knows she can’t do things like chomp people. But I was curious; nothing about her body language made me think I was being sized up or that she might turn aggressive. So I let her sniff and it’s gone from sampling my breath to putting her nose to my belly for a good sniff.

It’s interesting to see and I definitely want to see how her behavior changes after I give birth. I really hope she doesn’t stop being so friendly.
