Do you ever get over it?

I’m not really sure where to put this, but I guess it goes with relationships.

My SO and I have a 3 year old daughter and he’s made it very clear that he doesn’t want anymore children.

When we first got together (up through the first few years) we agreed that we would have 4. Now that’s changed because it was an unexpected pregnancy with our daughter.

I still want to have more children. I would even be happy just having one more baby. But he won’t budge. He wants our daughter to be an only child like he was. I grew up in a large family (one of 6 children) and I love it. I always wanted a larger family. But I’m willing to compromise and just have two children. He will not.

We are buying a house, getting the inspection done this week. And now the “baby fever” is stronger than usual and I’m so heartbroken. I just want one more and I don’t want a huge age gap between our children.

So..I guess, do you ever get over wanting more? Is it a deal breaker for you? I don’t know if I’ll ever ”get over” it..😓

Edit:

The reason he doesn’t want more is because he felt like he wasn’t ready to have our daughter when she was born because he had just graduated college and started his career. That is the only reason he can give me. Although, we weren’t using any protection when I got pregnant. I told him if he didn’t want a baby to pull out. He straight up said no and never pulled out. Idk what he thought was going to happen lol so now I have an IUD and will be replacing it when my 5 years is up.

We’ve discussed it many different times and I’m just going to have to accept having one or leave. I don’t want to leave just because we won’t have one more child, but at the same time, I feel like I’ll always be sad about it.

Of course I am grateful for my baby I already have, but growing up in a large family, I wanted one for myself too and I have always made it clear to him. I just get really sad when I think about it.

I’m not going to force it on him or try to make him change his mind anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️

Also, I don’t want to have one right now but within the next few years.
