Library Baby Story time Etiquette??

I am new to this. My only baby is just 10 months but very active. When we go to story time, the latter part is “free play,” and that’s why we go—I want my babe to have unstructured time with peers because I think it’s developmentally important BUT I get the feeling that other guardians aren’t about the “sit back and only intervene if it’s dangerous/gross” life. 
Thoughts?

We have e been going to storytime since our daughter was about six months. Everyone has a different style of parenting. Some intervene more or less than others. And it’s all okay. Just do whatever makes you comfortable, as long as it’s not hurting anyone else’s kid.

I’ve been wondering this too! So far my baby has been more of an observer and its other parents who are redirecting their kids from taking things from him or grabbing at his face. I would like him to learn how to deal with peer interactions but like you said I’m new at this and there seems to be unwritten code that we must all avoid germ sharing or touching faces at all costs.

Do your thing. I do this, too. One parent brings her crochet along. I will step in if I see that my daughter is distressing another child by taking their toy and will sometimes try to help her share. But she’s also going to be 2 in May so that seems developmentally appropriate for her.
