Switch to milk early?

Question

So here is my situation: I breastfeed.  My baby is 9 months old.  He has 3 teeth and bites me often when nursing (also broke skin several times and my nipple is in pain for several days).  I have begun to dread nursing him (except at night because he doesn't bite lol).  Also, he has begun to wean himself off nursing because he'll go several hours before wanting breast milk and even then, he latches and unlatches and latches and unlatches CONSTANTLY.  And after fighting with him to nurse (after its been 4 or 5 hours since his last nursing session), I give up because he just will refuse to latch on.  I'm just so tired of this shit lol.  On the flip side: SUCH A GOOD SOLID FOOD EATER lol.  He'll eat anything and be so happy eating regular food.
Side note: pretty sure my supply is fine because I can get milk out by hand expressing after he refuses to drink.
 So my question is: have any of you mamas switched your babies to whole milk early and how did it go?  I need good advice.  What do I do?

I wouldn’t. I would consider pumping and bottle feeding or going to formula until baby reaches a year old.

I wouldn’t switch to whole milk that early because their digestive systems aren’t ready for cows milk that young. 😕

I started my son on whole milk at 10 months and he is perfectly healthy and always has been. He handled it just fine. He refused to take formula anymore so I had no choice. My son also had a spitting up problem and once we started giving him milk he never spit up again!

Hi! I’m a ftm due in September. So I don’t have first hand experience; however I am a nurse so I hope you don’t mind that I comment anyway. 
Switching to cows milk before 1 year old can lead to anemia in your infant. 
So I strongly recommend letting your pediatrician know your concerns rather than just switching to milk. It could do more harm than good.

I give my son whole milk (not exclusively, but I give him a few ounces in a sippy cup at lunch, and I make his cereal with it). My ped said it was fine. Also, my family in Toronto says that in Canada, 9 months is the recommended age for switching to cows milk. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure if they’re milk is any different than ours lol. I’d recommend buying organic, though. That was a recommendation from my ped, as well.

my boy also weaned himself at 8 months. Absolutely refused formula ( who would want that after breast milk for 8 months) he is 9.5 months now and drinks whole milk just fine. also water

Maybe he would drink the breast milk or formula better from a soppy cup than a bottle. It’d be worth trying!

It's too early for cow's milk. Before 1 year, infants should only have breastmilk and/or formula.

I would try pumping and giving it to him in a bottle or sippy cup. My daughters pediatrician reccomended introducing whole milk around 9-10 months and so we did with my daughter but she could only handle very little each day and wouldn't have done well if we had fully switched her that young.

Pumping, bottle feed, or bottle with formula. Little tummies are not ready for cows milk (or other substitutes) until they are 1.
