What does it mean that my boyfriend said this?

Hey! A tad long, but very sweet story.

My bf and I are both 19. Freshmen in college together. Have been dating for four months. Friends for 2 before that.

We have yet to say I love you, but the feelings are definitely there. We are crazy for each other. He is basically my best friend who I just happen to really enjoy kissing/ having sex with.

Anyway, something ~strange~ happened today. We were at lunch with like 5 of our friends, and I was talking about how I want to be an English Major. As a (semi) joke, I said “I guess if im going to be an English Major, I need to marry rich!”

And without missing a beat, he said “well that’s a problem. That was my plan too!”

I know we were both joking, but he kind of implied that he was thinking of us in a really serious way!. I know we’re young and stuff but I just thought it was really sweet. He didn’t seem to notice that he said it, or what he implied. Neither did the 2 guys we were sitting with. Of course the three girls we were all sitting with Gave me looks and we all were like omg what did he just say. Classic LOL

Anyway. I know you may think I’m reading into this too much but what do you think it means that he said that? Like I know he’s not going to propose. We’re kids. But does this mean he can really see us being together for a while?! So cute !!
