My daughter is in second grade and had her end of years DIBELS testing today and the teacher called to inform me that my daughter will be held back in second grade because she isnt reading fast enough. Apparently for second grade she is suppose to be reading 96 words in one minute. And my daughter is only reading 40-50 words in one minute. To me, 96 words a minute seems a bit high, I don't know. But does anyone know what I can do to help her read fast and better? I thought she was doing fine but I guess not because now she will be repeating the second grade. Ugh...
