About once or twice a day I’ll feel a shooting pain from the base of my uterus down my vagina. It’s not that severe, but it definitely catches me off guard. Are these contractions?

No, this is just “lightning crotch” lol. Basically just pressure from baby on your cervix. Braxton Hicks will make your whole stomach tighten up and feel uncomfortable but shouldn’t feel like a shooting pain.

Contractions feel like terrible period cramps. At least that’s the best way I can describe them and they can occur in the front or your back or both. Like Cassie said- what you have is lightning crotch.
