Do I need a breast pump?

I plan on breast feeding and staying home with the baby. Do I need to pump? Should I buy one in case? First time mom here and I’m not sure!!

Yes. You should be given one when you are discharged from the hospital.

I only brought a hand pump and used it for the 1st few weeks when I had a over supply, till my milk regulated after 7wks and didn’t leak. I’ve barely used it since then I’m 6months pp as my little girl wouldn’t take a bottle anyways. But I do have freezer full of milk to use with purée baby food or use for teething ice lollies. I’m a stay at home mum to.. I’m glad I didn’t buy a expensive pump as it would of been a waste of money for me.

Check with your insurance! You can get one with them. More often than not, they provide them. 
I didn’t use my pump, I exclusively breastfed but this time around I will be needing one! So I would say it’s good to have just in case.

It's good to be prepared. But. With my 2nd son I breastfed and got a nice pump from my insurance and my son didn't drink from a bottle AT ALL. EVER. Not even my milk. He just wouldn't do it.  He didn't use a pacifier either. Just my boob nothing else.🤗

I exclusively breastfed 3X and absolutely used my pump. But if you can’t afford one I’ve heard of insurance companies providing or you can try and do without. You could try a Hakka pump - it’s basically an ergonomic bowl for your boob. If you register for one people might contribute as a group or if you get gift certificates for your shower you could put towards?

I would just in case. Youre going to end up leaving baby with a sitter or dad at some point and they will need food for the baby. Call your insurance, almost all of them cover one for free for you.
