Abstinence?

Me and my fiancé have been together for 1 year and 4 months and we have had sex but we've recently decided to try and wait until marriage for Christian reasons.. Anyone here have any advice as to if this makes sense? Or if there's no point.

My husband n I did the same thing we went without sex for four months before our wedding once our pastor started counseling us n found out we lived together we decided on going abstinent. In our eyes this sacrifice was nothing compared to Jesus sacrificed for us so go for it its so worth it ur honeymoon night will be just that much more special n God honors those who honor him I'll be praying for u guys

My husband and I were in a similar situation. It was really hard to not push the boundaries, but it was so worth the wait! After we were married we were able to experience everything in freedom and love; away from any doubt or conviction. I think if you're feeling this way, there's a reason. Maybe you and your fiancé can pray about it together?

I would continue to wait. I know this post was from a while ago but if this still applies to you now then heres my take on it. Ive been in a Christian home all my life. Some people see Christianity as a bunch of rules of do's and don'ts. But its more then that... I  believe the bible is pretty clear about premarital sex. Some choose to ignore that - but im not here to judge. I myself end up slipping up and had sex with my fiancé 3 months before the wedding. To be honest, its the biggest regret I have. And its created problems for us in our mariage today. To protect both of you, keep waiting. Respect the gift of sex within the mariage as God intended. I say that with love! Not everyone has had the same experience and im not here to tell you what and what not to do. Simply giving you my personal experience to try and prevent you from feeling the way I did. I wish you a beautiful wedding (if you arent already married) and an amazing blessed mariage!

Honestly just pray about because my SO and I are doing the same thing but it's so tough! My tip to you, don't be alone too long in a room with a bed in it, just go find something to do to distract yourselves.

I don't know if anyone will see this since this post was over 2 years ago but I felt it to be necessary to give an update! 
After talking to eachother and other selective people, we came to conclusion that it would be better for our relationship with God and ourselves if we decided to wait so we did. Now over 2 years later, we remain strong and excited because our wedding day is less than 2 months away! I truly believe by waiting, we grew closer and stronger than ever and we don't wait for our wedding day as a day to have sex like we did the first couple of months of waiting.. we are simply ecstatic to be living together as husband and wife for the rest of our lives. So thank you to everyone that commented their input!

I think you guys should do whatever feels right for you guys. I know this probs doesn't help at all 😂 but I know for me personally, abstaining from sex with my SO has never really had a point for me. 
But then, my roommate is abstaining until marriage and I know that her commitment to that really means a lot to her. 
You and your fiancé shouldn't feel pressured or shamed into abstaining, but you should feel pressured to be having sex either. 
Take a few days and think about what the choice to abstain would mean to you, and base your decision off that instead of any outside pressures.

Let me tell you. My husband and I were together for 8 years in total and have been married for only 6 months. We waited the entire 7 + years before having sex. It's very difficult but it is possible. You just have to keep your goal in mind and remember WHY you're waiting. That was the key for us. Is the end goal more important than your current and temporal feelings? If so then keep moving forward. If I could do it, (and I started dating him at 16) anyone can.
