Was my boss hitting on me?
I have been babysitting for the same family for a few years. I have gotten to know the mom pretty well and she and I talk all the time, but not so much with the dad. I just don't see him as often, and when I do, it's for a short period of time. The mom is usually the one here when I get here and she usually gets home first. I go through her for everything (pay, schedule, etc).
Well, I was talking with the dad last night. Just making small chit chat. Then out of no where he makes a comment about how I'm like a book. I asked what he meant and he explained, "when you start reading a book, the first couple chapters you are trying to figure out who is who and what is going on. Then the more you read, the better it gets". I was just kind of like, "oh, okay". I didn't know what to say to that.
He has made flirty comments to me in the past, even in front of the mom, but it was always in a joking manner. With this whole book thing, he was sounding sincere.
I don't want to read too much into it, because maybe he just meant it's nice to finally get to know each other a bit more after years of watching his kids, but at the same time, it seemed a little odd the way he went about saying that.
Just as a disclaimer, I am married and in no way interested in pursuing anything with him. I just need to know how it sounds to all of you, so I can figure out if this is something that needs to be handled or if I need to mention this to the mom or my husband. Like I said, maybe I'm reading too much into it, so that's why I'm asking here, to get your take on it.
