Abusive Partner 😥

So...long story short, my ex and I have a 3 week old daughter. She is my entire world and she’s showed me how to be strong. My ex was abusive and was in jail for family violence against me for most of my pregnancy. I had left him and finally filed charges against him one week before I found out I was pregnant. Now he’s out of jail and although he seems a little better, he is still an angry person and smokes weed daily. I tried to co-parent with him for the sake of my daughter, but I’m constantly fighting with him and it’s taking my energy away. I don’t know what to do. If I take him to court and he got any type of unsupervised custody, I wouldn’t be able to live with the worry I’d feel for my daughter’s safety. Any advice? What are the chances he would get custody or visitation rights?

These texts are from from today, because I refused to get back together with him and told him I just wanted to be good co-parents for our daughter. He seems to care more about having me then being a father. He always ignores her and hasn’t helped at all financially.

P.S. Chris is my best friend for years that is not romantic at all, but he was always jealous of.

The “lying” he is referring to is not telling my parents the truth about his abuse and continual use of drugs (meth and other stuff - which he hid from me for the longest time and I’ve never done or been around them so I was pretty naive). And lying to him about giving him a chance and not pressing charges against him.
