Giving bottles to 2 year olds?

Question

I see so many posts on all my parenting apps and even videos on Instagram or whatever or people giving toddlers bottles.
Am I wrong... I thought bottles had to stop at 1 year? I'm so confused! I don't want to be judemnental because maybe I'm wrong about that but I didn't think it was okay to give them bottles after one, neveremind at 2 or 3? Can someone fill me in?

you should start weaning from bottles at one, yes. some babies take longer than others to wean, but i’d say most let it go by 18 months. my step sons mom used to give him chocolate milk in a bottle well past two years and it drove my husband and i insane.

Most pediatricians do recommend starting to wean children off bottles around one, yes. However, there aren’t any bottle police. If you want to give your child a bottle longer, who cares honestly. My daughter is 20 months and  still prefers a bottle before bed, it’s just a comfort thing. She drinks easily from cups all day, but has one bottle at the end of the day. I don’t see a problem with it.

We took our daughter’s bottle away at one 🤷🏽‍♀️ nobody really told us that we should tho. My mom used to give her bottles behind my back and it used to piss me off. My daughter was already using sippy cups and trying to use regular cups pretty early. But when i see bigger kids with bottles i kinda judge because she doesn’t have one lol. But I used to work at a daycare when i was pregnant with her. A lot of parents there would force their kids to take a bottle when they were turning 5.

I think we did a night bottle until around 14-15 months. One bottle a day and only at night. My kid honestly lost interest on her own so it wasn’t a struggle.

please this is SO not a big deal. babies are not machines and neither are parents. some babies take pacifiers, others don't, some are breastfed , others aren't. just focus on your own family. unless baby is in danger try not to extrapolate your own parenting or needs of your baby onto other families. (ps my baby never took a bottle)

I was exclusively breastfeeding up until my LO was 10 months old. Now I supplement and he just turned one. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s right and what’s not. I haven’t done any research so my thoughts are not based on anything solid. I’m thinking that it’s “okay” to use bottles for more than a year because babies nurse for more than a year naturally, but it would be best to get them to take their milk from something less damaging to their teeth once they start coming in. A lot of people view infancy as something to squash out of a child as quickly as possible and try to get them to be as independent as they can be at as early of age as possible so that may effect some people’s reasons as to end it early. For myself-my baby turned 1 a couple days ago and he’s still taking 2-3 bottles a day but he drinks from an open cup at every meal. we will be transitioning to a sippy of milk at wake up and bed time when his teeth come in or else soonish. He’s also still on formula and will be for another 4-6 months on doctors recommendation. Solids and breastfeed was only enough to meet his needs and help him grow taller but he never gained weight for 5 months and his BMI plummeted. Before everyone jumps my case-he was monitored by his doctor, 2 lactation consultants, an ENT and an allergist to make sure something else wasn’t going on. As soon as we added in 10 ounces of formula a day in addition to all his solids and breastfeeding he started gaining. Sorry if it’s TMI; I’m so tired of being judged by strangers so I explain upfront.

With my oldest 2 we stopped at 1 and went to sippy cups.  However my youngest was a preemie so I kept him on formula till 2 the appropriate stage of course.  He never ever had a bottle while sleeping only while awake.  Dentist was the one to recommend stopping so we went to sippy cups.

I stopped giving my son the bottle at 14 months. Slowly gave hm a sippy cup. It took about a month.

They don’t HAVE to be stopped by a year but the AAP recommends stopping bottles around 12 months but no later than 18 months. My daughter is primarily breastfed so we stopped the bottles she got at daycare when she turned a year old.

I took my daughter's pacifier and bottle away at the age of one as well I think it's not good for their teeth and it looks silly the older they get
