Young girls wearing bikinis

This may have been posted before so I apologize for that.

Had an interesting conversation with my sister in law when shopping for a swim suit for my 6 year old niece. We went to Target and couldn’t find a one piece. (My family is more on the modest side.) anyways, she had to buy one online and even then she said she felt the selection was very limited compared to the two pieces. She’s not offended, just disappointed I guess. Her sister has been saying to just put her in a bikini, but my SIL isn’t comfortable having her daughter be so young and in something meant to be “sexy” and doesn’t want men looking at her. We both talked because I remember when I was that age 15 years ago, myself and none of my friends were allowed to wear bikinis until 18 and society seems to be changing.

Do you think there’s an age that bikinis are inappropriate?

Do you think stores offer less once piece options and should offer more?

Do you think creepy men look at young girls in bikinis more than more modest options or the same amount?

P.S. just wanted to add I don’t judge mom’s or young girls wearing bikinis. I just thought it was an interesting topic because I definitely feel it was frowned upon more when I was a kid compared to now. Im not trying to say that it is wrong or not.
