Is it normal to be terrified of premature labor?

I'm 22 weeks with my rainbow and first baby. My mother gave birth to me at 26 weeks and my brother at 25 weeks. She had her cervix sewn with my sister and I'm pretty sure it's because she had an incompetent cervix or something. I don't know my mother that well so I haven't asked. I've googled it and it's not really hereditary but I am just terrified of going into labor too soon. Any time I get a cramp or something my mind just makes up the worst possible scenario and it drives me nuts.

It's completely normal to be worried honey. It's all part of being a mother, you will worry over so many things and most of the time it's completely irrational ❤️ I'm sure you will be fine ❤️

Oh yeah. My mom had all 3 of us girls at like the very last possible second, and I still worry that I’ll have preterm labor. I think forums like this can also fuel the anxiety.

I am also 22 weeks. I had my anatomy scan a couple of weeks ago and was told that my cervix is long and closed. While that was comforting to hear, I still find myself worrying about preterm labor all of the time. Like someone already said, it is all part of being a mother. My oldest son is 14 years old, and I still worry about him all of the time. I think worrying over our kids starts the moment we find out we are expecting and doesn't end until we leave this Earth!

It’s definitely normal, especially given your experience. My mother had me at 42 weeks and I still worry about it. 
That being said, mention to your doctor that your mom had a history of preterm labor. They may want to keep an on eye on your cervix more often just to be sure.
