Dating to marry ?

Im 19, my bae is 21. He and I have been dating since May last year. We broke up three months ago for a brief period because he said he was unsure about me and was at a crossroads where he couldn’t identify the exact reason. Since then we’ve rekindled and have been operating as a happy couple.

Today I asked him tho why we aren’t official yet although it’s been a bit over a month since we have rekindled and things have been just as good as before we broke up.

But he told me although he isn’t confused anymore he wants to give it some time to be sure that when he asks me to be official he will be with me for good.

Personally I don’t see dating to marry as a priority at my age but he views things this way.

How should I feel?

What do y’all think ?

I absolutely want to marry him and see myself having a long term future with him. I just don’t think we have to date for that specific purpose
