Newborn and toddler hospital stay?

So I have 3 1/2 months left in this pregnancy. My baby will need heart surgery sometime soon after it's born my question is, has any one gone through their baby having heart surgery and also having a toddler? My son will be almost 2. I have no family close and my husband has a demanding job there is no guarantee he can be around. I'm nervous that I won't be able to be with both my babies at the same time (especially during recovery).

Ask alotof questions bc the hospital may not even allow your toddler to be there due to germs. I know it sounds weird but many hospitals have set rules about these things bc the germs can cause complications .

I just had my son a month ago and has had two hospital stays since. I also have a two year old son also. My husband is deployed but I had my parents around.They wouldn’t let me have him stay with me. The longest they let him stay was until my parents came to pick him up. I don’t think hospitals will let toddlers stay at all. At least you know that this surgery is going to happen and have a little prep time. Surely your husband’s job can deny him the time off because it is technically an emergency.

I would get a sitter whos comfortable with overnights. When my mother in law’s neighbors had their baby, they had my mother in law come over and stay the night to be with her 3 year old.

My daughter is oldest 11, and i have 8 5 2 yr old too and everyone at some point has done hospital stay with us and her 6 open heart surgeries, i would call hospital and fond out there sibling policy and be prepared wont let sibling stay the night so see if there is a ronald mcdonald house close by or a place like that you can stay at so when toddler needs break can go over there but close to hospital. My faughter has had 12 surgeries total, and ive always had a child with me its duable just little harder. If you can find sitter or day care that of course always easier but get expensive.
