Is it bad for a newborn to sleep in a separate room?

I just saw a post on here and people were saying it's best for babies to sleep in the same room as their parent/s for at least the first 6 months.

Here's why I'm asking. My husband and I are TTC and I always thought about setting the spare bedroom up as the nursery, then I was thinking having a bassinet in our bedroom would be easier. Then, just the other day, I realized our baby would be safer in a different room with the door shut. My cat usually likes to try to lay in my face when I sleep and I couldn't risk her trying to do that to our baby. We also have two big dogs who love to cuddle in bed with us, who knows if they would try to climb in the crib to cuddle the baby.

So is there anything wrong with having the baby sleep in their own room by themselves? Of course we would have a monitor to hear/see them and check on them regularly.
