Treating animals for cancers

Mr

My old dog has a very aggressive form of cancer. Tomorrow I’m taking him to see an oncologist so we know how we can support him in his last days. I have told some family this and have heard some very different reactions when I’ve told them I’m seeing a veterinarian oncologist.

Turns out many people around me do not agree with treating an animal for cancer. I’ve heard... “hasn’t he suffered enough?” “just put him down” “don’t waste the money” I come from a farming family so the idea of me treating my dog for cancer is ludacris to them.

I don’t know what I’ll do with my dog as he’s very old but what I do know is I am most definitely for treating canine and feline cancers. If you have the money and the dog has a chance I support it fully.

What is your thoughts? If your dog was diagnosed with cancer would you look to surgery and or chemo therapy? Do you think it’s wrong to put a dog through such invasive therapy which can possibly only add suffering?
