My son turns 6 at the end of October and I want to get him something he will actually use for a while. He has tons and tons of toys, clothes and that stuff. 
I want it to be special as it’s been a rough year for us financially and physically. I have money saved but not looking to spend a ton as we have a hotel room booked at the waterpark which put me back some.

A set of dominos. Seems simple, but they keep my nieces entertained for hours. They aren’t expensive, they aren’t fragile, they encourage creativity, and it can teach the utilization of patience for a long term goal.

I just got my 6 year old stuff that went along with his birthday that he wanted. He was super into "Ryan's World" at the time, so I got some of the toys that went with that. Plus I think he got a book or something. What is he interested in that might be affordable for you? Does he like reading or drawing or crafting?
