Newborn sleeping A LOT

When I was at the hospital they were saying to feed 8-12 times per day.. well she eats of course. But we’ve been feeding her when she wakes because if we wake her to feed she gets grumpy and fussy and seems perfectly content sleeping until she desires to eat. Idk they just put in my mind that it’s not normal. Is this normal for my baby to be sleeping a lot? She’s almost 4 days old.
