How would you feel?

My husband is in another country. He’s been there this whole week for work. 
He’s hardly talked to me. A text here and there. 
I’m home, struggling to juggle kids lives, work, errands, the house, and such. 
Every night he’s been there he tells me he can’t talk because he’s “out to dinner.” Then after dinner he’s “grabbing a beer.” 
Our kids are young. They don’t get why dad isn’t talking to them like he said he would, hell, I don’t get why he’s not either. 
He doesn’t tell me he’s in hotel safe or anything either. I’ve been up worried about this ass as he had a police escort into the city. 
I feel like he should be chewed a new one.. but I don’t want to be overreacting... am I overreacting?

Just sit back for a moment and think, 
He would rather spend his time drinking than talking to you. 
He’s in a different country! That’s INSANE! How can anyone not want to talk to there significant other n prefer to drink ?!
And he has children?!

If I’m at the grocery store or he’s at the grocery store we gotta text each other n make sure things ok n if he’s at work he calls n checks up on the kids n me

Id understand he’s busy etc but a simple text that he’s back safe and how you handling things at home would be greatly appreciated and id feel pissed too

I also don't think chewing him a new one is going to actually help the situation. 
Have you tried just talking about how you're feeling?

I would feel very upset about the kids.. I would put my feelings to the side about how i feel about it all but where kids are concerned.. that's not fair.. its okay to have a good time but what is a 2 minute phone call to them.. if he is behaving new like this then yeh for sure.. I would be suspicious.. if the kids say anything to him.. just sit back and watch him squirm.

So I’m trying to form a msg here... I’m not always the best with words, especially when I’m pissed. But this is what I’m thinking of sending here...
Morning. So, how would you feel if we were in reverse roles here?. Think about your lack of checking in with us, communication, how we’re doing, lack of speaking to the kids tho you told them you would before you left. 
I completely get your on a work trip, but dinner and drinks is not while you’re at work. I’m completely for taking in being somewhere, but not at the cost of lack of interest/concern to what should be your biggest interest. You’re acting shady as fuck while being thousands of miles away. So, how would you feel if I were doing this to you?

Oops, accidentally hit “just fine”, I’d be upset.
My husband travels a lot for work and I expect him to maintain a certain amount of communication. I do get upset if he doesn’t call/FaceTime in time to see our son, and pretty annoyed when he doesn’t make an effort to talk to me because he’s out with coworkers... I’m in California, his trips take him to New York or Europe, usually, and it might be 10pm (PST) before I get more than a text from him. I feel your frustration!
We had many fights about this in the past, and it has gotten better, but is still not a great feeling taking a backseat.
I just remind myself that my son (and baby on the way) will see who is there for him most, and have focused on cherishing my one-on-one time with him. Hate to say that when I’m particularly frustrated with him putting us after drinks with coworkers, it does cross my mind that I *could* do it all without him if I had to.
