How to avoid cigarette smell?

My boyfriend smokes and has been addicted for a few years, he’ll go outside to smoke every 30 minutes and when he comes back in it’s a thick stench of smoke. I’m really sensitive to smells so it gives me headaches and bothers me a lot. 
We don’t really have a lot of room where we stay so it’s not like I can just go away and avoid him completely all the time. 
Is there anything he or I can do to avoid him smelling like that when he smokes? Besides quitting obviously because I’m talking short term fix

Washing his hands and changing his clothes will help. Maybe he can have a designated shirt or jacket to wear when smoking and change it when he comes inside. It’s also his breath so he needs to brush his teeth or chew gum or something.

Tell him to wear a medical glove while smoking that will prevent the chemicals on to his hand which carries a lot of the smell. Also to wear a different jacket or shirt

Unfortunately no. I quit 3 years ago and I’m super sensitive to the smell to the point that it gives me headaches. If they sit outside longer after finishing they won’t be as strong but you’ll still smell it. Maybe a bit extreme but if he puts on a different shirt after smoking and washes his hands it wouldn’t be as strong either
