At what age do you start giving your child a pillow to sleep with at night?

My son will be 2 in December and I still keep a plenty empty crib for him, just a very light blanket when the temperatures get cool. I'm unsure when to introduce an actual blanket or pillow 🤦‍♀️

We started around 13-14months, he would use his duvet and put partly under his head. So he got a tiny pretty flat pillow. 
Yes, in Norway we use duvets from birth. No, we aren't crazy the infant mortality rate here is way lower than in the US.

So my little one decided to cling to an adult sized throw blanket. You know the super heavy and soft, microfiber ones. He was maybe like 10 months. Momma's solution, let him have it. He never had issues and rolled it in a ball to sleep on top of it. But now he's so tall and I'm worried about the height and crawling out of the crib. So I cut it in half and sewed the seam. Done.

My son is 20 months and Ive been meaning to get him a pillow.  They sell toddler pillows.

I didn’t worry about it after she could roll forward and backward independently. She would bunch up blankets, and claimed a flower-shaped pillow I had when she was somewhere around 1.

My daughter was about 20 months old when she got a pillow but we switched her to a toddler bed. She’s had a blanket since she was born. Now at 2 1/2 she’s in a twin bed and has piles of blankets and books and dolls she likes to sleep with l

I got my girl one probably at 2, maybe a little after. She was so ready and excited for it tho. I think it depends on the kid. She’s always been more “mature” for a now 3 year old. My son tho is 1.5 and I know he’s no where near ready for one.

My 18 month old will NOT sleep without his pillow. It's just a very small little square one, nothing like what I use. He loves it so much!
