For the non-religious ladies out there

Neither me or my sons father are religious.

We are struggling with what to do for Christmas.

Does anyone not do Santa? He is everywhere around christmas. Christmas decor, music, movies. Obviously its impossible to keep him away from that. And honestly, I dont want to. Christmas is gorgeous and I dont want him to miss out on the fun activities.

But I also dont want to lie to him. I'm torn because I want him to have the magic that comes with all things imaginative about childhood. But I still want him to question everything.

I see Santa as I see god, a story. A childhood story. Our traditions in the US are so massively based on religion and it doesnt seem right celebrating a religious holiday when we arent religious. But it also doesnt seem right to keep that from my son.

I guess I'm just wondering what this conversation will look like when he is older.
