What is the wort part of a baby shower/what can be skipped?

FTM with a lot of friends who have complained about baby showers in the past. I want to see what we can skip to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

I always begged to skip gift opening at my showers, but apparently people want to watch you open their gifts. I understand it, I’ve just never been that way. It’s one of the things I think makes a shower drag on and the energy slows waaaay down.

I found gift opening to be fun if they had bingo while she opened gifts. You know, where the guests would write in the squares what they think she'll get and as she opens them, you try to get a bingo and win a prize. It made the gift opening less boring.

We did a coed babyshower and skipped opening the gifts. Family and friends came from out of town, and we wanted time to chat with them as much as we could. Also, men don’t care about watching us open gifts. We booked a hall with cash bar and had food. They were happy LOL We played games but invited people up to play and didn’t “make” anyone play. We wanted a chill fun environment!! It was great! The odd “old school” family member was upset about not opening gifts but my shower, not yours!!

For mine I did not want any of that. My mom had a super laid back one for me with only close friends and family. We had lunch, cake and opened presents. It wasn't overwhelming it just felt like lunch with friends.

Didn’t do gift opening at mine. Fed people, they socialized, played a couple of quick games that didn’t involve people getting up from their tables or embarrassing themselves...who wouldn’t want to attend a nice lunch? Lol

Stressful: 
Parking- we had our shower at our house and parking was a major stress. We had to have people park at the church at the end of our block.
Entertaining- It definitely takes more than just you the mommy to be to entertain and talk about with guest. I felt awful not being able to talk to my guest as much as I would’ve wished to. 
Bathroom- We have 2 bathrooms, but the stressful part was having to point them out. After pointing them out to several guest I made signs to hang up and put a sign on the doors to them. 
Activities- keep them short and sweet: we did baby jeopardy and it became stressful and some people didn’t know how to even play jeopardy. 
Likes: 
Open Dining: we did a open style dining for the guest and it made it easy for guest to eat when they pleased. 
Breaking Up Space: we had several activities and broke them up into different rooms of the house. 
On the back deck we did tie-dye baby onesies. Kitchen table we did color a Alphabet letter for babies 1st alphabet. 
Downstairs we did the LEGO walk; if you made it across barefoot you won a prize. (Little gift bag of chocolates and a mini booze with a coke) we also did baby bingo. 
Upstairs we had a table in the living-room for Gifts, a table for sign ins and on the other side of the table we had Diaper Changes / Midnight Wishes: on newborn diapers we had guest use a permit marker and write a wish or something cute or funny to cheer up mom or dad during those 12 o’clock diaper changes. And then we had the baby jeopardy in the living-room took the tv to our bedroom and set up the jeopardy on the tv wall and had the prizes on the tv stand all lined up.

Gift opening is always fun but when it's a baby shower and depending on how many people, it's a shitload of gifts that take a lot of time. I felt like I had to rush through opening the gifts and couldnt enjoy looking at them one by one. And it seemed like everyone was falling asleep. Like when a teacher is giving a lecture and it's dead silent...like that lol. Games are fun too but I feel like their always the same and it's no fun when you cant play too cuz you know all the answers lol. I think there just needs to be a better setup/way to do it instead of taking things out.

I always feel awkward opening the gifts in front of everyone because I don’t like all eyes on me. But, people like to watch you open their gift especially if they put a lot of thought into it. I think many would be disappointed if you skipped that part.

I kind of hate all of it lol but the WORST is the guess mom's belly size game. Awful.
