Saviour siblings?

Do you think it's okay for parents to conceive a child just so they can save their sick child. E.g. Just to be a bone marrow donor and should they be labeled as donors when they literally had no say. To start this process usually they wait till a baby is in suitable weight range.

Just because you have another child does not make them an automatic match to be a donor for their sibling.

No. Absolutely not.
A child should never be born for a job, and especially not a job that puts their bodies and life at risk, and reduces their quality of life. 
I despise parents that do this. I understand you want to save your child, but having another one and torturing it to do that is just wrong.

I read a book about that.... My Sisters Keeper. So sad. They made sure the younger sister was a genetic match by being a test tube baby and instead of waiting for the Donner child to grow they used the ambilical cord

I think it's horrible, it would be a life in pain, from surgerys to getting better. And for the parents, having one child suffer would be horrible, but having another and then suffer aswell isn't right.. kids aren't donors

That said, I would do ANYTHING in my power to save the lives of my boys. No matter how horrible.

I've read multiple studies and articles about this and I still don't know how to feel. Picking an embryo based on it being a genetic match to your sick child is questionable. How will that child feel when they grow up and discover that the only reason Mommy and Daddy even had them was to save their sibling? It's an ethical gray area...I don't know what I would choose to do because I've never been in that situation and I pray I never am.

I see no problem with this in fact this is a really good thing. You will go through life knowing your existence has already saved someone.

Better than knowing you were a drunken mistake lol
