Who has started swimming lessons? How old were they when they started?

We only started today, and feel like we are late to the game!! 😭

We took her to free swims at three months and lessons at a year. She enjoys the water but we get nothing from the lessons.

We started at 6 months. She hated it at first but now loves it

We plan to start in January. I figured it would be a good activity in the winter so we can get out of the house more. I don’t think there is a right or wrong time to do it. But swim lessons in general are helpful no matter what age

We started at 8 months and did a 10 week session... then paused for a while because of vacations and such. We’ll probably start again after the holidays. It’s expensive, and when we’re having to miss classes for events/vacations/illnesses... it’s a lot.

I haven’t even put my 3 year old in yet but both my kids enjoy the water and we go swimming often which I think at these ages is what is the point of lessons. We will probably start lessons at 4

Paid swimming lessons I don’t start till they can go in the water by themselves with the teacher which is age 3. But we started going to the pool around 3 months and he swims with me. We swim at least once a week.

I just finished a little 8 week class and it was fun, but didn't feel late or necessary. Shes still too little to understand instructions like consciously kicking her legs or blowing bubbles. 🙂

I've been doing research because we don't have a ton of money . My take away is as long as you have them in the water from a young age the lesson part doesn't start till a little later. if you watch during any kind of lesson with babies at this age they really are just kind of playing with them and getting used to it , there's not a lot of training that goes on yet.
But if I had an unlimited budget I would definitely be doing it :-)
