Tithes

I need to clarify I’m not asking for judgement on what happened between her and I. I was giving an example. What I’m wondering about it how your household handles tithes. Before bills or after like my SIL & BIL.

My sister-in-law and I were having a discussion about tithes yesterday after church. I stay out of other people’s finances as much as I can. Not my place. She brought it up to me that her and her husband (BIL) are now able to tithe. They weren’t tithing before because she said there wasn’t anything left after bills were paid. I told her how they should be tithing first and God will provide to them with what is left from it. She kind of got upset with me when I was only trying to bring her a comfort of sort. Since I stay out of that kind of stuff maybe I was wrong.

What are your thoughts on tithing?

Edit to add: Just to clarify my husband and I tithe before any bills are paid. We feel God provided the job he has and the money we get from it isn’t ourselves until we tithe. God comes before all material things.
