12+ hour long tantrum?

My 2 year old has literally been a grump and in a mood since I got him up this morning. When my husband went to pick him up from daycare, hegot a report on him for being grumpy/moody/deviant and the likes. They came home and still grumpy. I came home about a hour later and he was excited to see me until I asked if he was ready for dinner and he started up crying. We sat him down and he ate almost half of it then started acting like he was gonna gag. No fever. Has a little bit of a cough but has had it since the weather changed a few weeks ago. Body and everything looks okay (minus some bruises and muddy knees, gotta love them rough and tumble boys). I loaded him up with ibuprofen and a cough syrup last cold season prescribed by his doctor, did a shortened version if bedtime routine and laid him down for an early bed time cuz he doesn’t want to do anything except stand in a corner and be fussy. He is at his door kicking and screaming and we’re just staring at the door and have zero clue how to proceed. I’ve tried three times to put him back to bed. Did your toddlers have days/moments like this? What did you do? We agreed if we do more than 36-48 hours of this we’d try to take him to get checked out
