Am I exaggerating ? Thrush.
I just had my son 3 weeks ago and I’ve been breastfeeding and only pumping when my breasts get really full. This week I noticed he started getting a diaper rash his bottom was red and I thought this was just because well he poops a lot. But today I started getting curious about it because its a bumpy rash almost like pimples and it hasn’t gotten any better in 3 days that I’ve been using diaper rash cream and baby vaseline. I’ve also been changing him frequently and airing out his bottom.
Now he’s not my first I have a 2 year old daughter who at 2 weeks of age developed thrush and the only reason I noticed it was because my nipples were killing me every time she latched on to the point where I would cry and dread feeding her. But she also had a diaper rash that lasted weeks that didn’t go away with all the creams I used and I came to learn that her diaper rash was a symptom of the thrush she had gotten so the only thing that got rid of it was an anti yeast cream prescribed by her ped. But even with Thrush, feeding was never painful to her.
Now my son has started being fussier than normal this week and I thought it was becauee of his rash but I also noticed he gets fussy when I latch him on sometimes he won’t stop crying even while he’s eating and he won’t stay on for as long as he usually would. I wondered if my latch was bad or what but today it hit me. Thrush. His diaper rash that won’t go away, fussiness while eating, and when I decided to check his mouth his tongue is white and I noticed two white spots on his gums.
Now it’s 3pm where I live I’m a sahm that doesn’t know how to drive 😅. My hubby and in laws are my only mode of transportation which I know is bad but that’s another story. But anyways by the time anyone gets home my baby’s Pediatrician will have closed and no one will be able to take me to the clinic tomorrow or anywhere till next Wednesday now I don’t want to wait so long because he’s already having a hard time feeding his rash won’t go away and I don’t want to get the thrush as well since I stopped breastfeeding ny daughter due to how painful it was and my milk dried up. So what I’m trying to say with all this is would I be exaggerating taking him to the er tonight just to get help right away?
