Chemo and being sick help?!

Question

I got a cold on Saturday night and am still pretty sick with a cough and congestion. My MIL is currently doing chemo for her cancer. It’s almost thanksgiving and I feel so sad about this but I feel like I shouldn’t attend their thanksgiving dinner. I don’t want to get her sick right now. I know it’s still a couple days away but I feel like I just shouldn’t attend. What would you guys do? I’m sad as this would be all of our first thanksgiving together but it’s not worth her catching my cold.

Maybe you could get a hospital type mask for you or her to wear? I got a bunch from my nephew's doctor's office when he tested positive for strep and I was doing chemo. Keep sanitizer on you. It's been a few days so I don't think you would be contagious but a body under the major stress of chemo is so fragile and it sucks so it's honestly hard to tell. Hopefully everything works out ❤️

Maybe see your doctor before thanksgiving to ask if it's okay? I take 1000mg of vitamin c to fight sickness. It helps.

That’s super thoughtful of you. I would see how you feel then. If you’re symptomless by Thursday you can go. If not you’re smart to stay away. Maybe you can video chat in?

Wear a mask. That is what our family would do when my mama was going through her chemo. She never got sick from us.

Talk to your doctor and her. 
I’m finding out the hard way how tomorrow isn’t promised. If possible to spend this holiday with her with the necessary precautions could mean a lot down the line.
