New daycare and toddler upset

This is a question for other parents who have had a toddler transition to a new daycare. My son is 2y10m old and we just had to switch to a new daycare provider because our old one was moving out of state. My son had been at the old place since he was 10 weeks old and loved every minute of it. He would often get upset when he had to go home because he enjoyed it there so much. We are on week 2 of new daycare and the first week went relatively smoothly, but my son was pretty clingy in the morning. Now, in week 2, he is throwing a tantrum starting before my husband even leaves the house to go drop him off. My kiddo is not one to tantrum and is usually easily calmed down. This is not the case anymore...he cries the entire ride to daycare and more at drop off. He calms down relatively soon after daddy leaves him there (hugs, snuggles, and goodbyes of no help and he is still crying when daddy leaves). Has anyone been through this? How long did the adjustment period last? Were there any techniques to help calm your kiddo when they were this upset? My husband is really struggling with it, but I cant drop him off in the morning, so this is all being put on him to resolve in the heat of the moment. Help please!!!
