Transition from crib to toddler bed!

When did you do it? How did it go? Any tips??!

My son will be 2 tomorrow and we already started buying decor for his long term big boy room. But we’ll probably have it all set up middle next year because I want to put everything together all at once but accumulate over time. Anyway, we’re thinking about getting him a toddler bed right now and we’re just not so sure. Often times he gets one leg over the rail but has never successfully got out on his own. Would now be a good time?
