Do you agree with this "parenting method" ?

Question

Every time the 1 & 4 year old do something wrong or get in trouble the parents tell them "Apologize and ask for forgiveness so you don't feel shame" then they say sorry and the parents say "Good job, See, now you don't have to feel shame"

Forcing children to apologize doesn’t teach them anything except that they can do whatever they want and get away with it by saying sorry

Nope... that's weird to be honest.. like self serving than actually genuinely remorseful for an action.  We tell our son if he does something wrong either by purpose or accident he always has to make it right.  Sometimes that's him humbly asking the other person what he can do to make it better and follow through with it.

I didn't "forced" our oldest son to say sorry before he could understand that word. Now he is just 4 and he understand what "sorry" means, he says "I'm sorry" without us telling him to say it, he will even tell me to say sorry to him if he thinks I did something wrong.

It shouldn't be about feeling shame. It should be about doing the right thing.

Shame is what drives us to have morals though. As kids, we feel shame as a natural consequence of misbehaving
