It’s so nice of them but...

My in-laws buy these ridiculously cheap baby clothes from a store in the ghetto. The first time I got them, I washed them with all of baby’s other new clothes in cold water. They turned his 0-3 months laundry a multitude of colors which destroyed around $200 worth of baby clothes, many onesies, sleepers, a snow suit, etc. all the first time I washed them. To top it off, the cheap clothes shrunk and were misshapen so I got rid of them.

They asked to see baby in them and I kindly told them he already grew out of them because they shrunk quite a bit but thanked them more than once for their kindness. I didn’t want to tell them they were junk and ruined his good clothes.

So they went out and bought more clothes in the same store, in a bigger size...and then more...and always want him to wear them to events and holidays that I bought nicer cuter clothes for, starting back to when I found out I was pregnant. So it’s not simply a case of saying thank you and donating them to someone who may need them more.

Do I just admit that they’re crap at this point or keep playing the “oh I forgot you wanted him to wear that here” game? I won’t even wash them in case my husband accidentally throws it in his laundry and more gets ruined.
