Feeling grateful!
Just had to share.
From the time I was 15 I had to handle my own bills and expenses (my parents wanted me to learn about the value of money) this included family vacations, medical bills (except my surgery for my hand-my mom covered that) my car, repairs, rent (that started when I was working) and my half of utility bills etc. I worked from the time school got out until closing time (which was 12) from 16 on up. I always did my homework and school reading an hour or so before I had to go to school and never had time to really do what I wanted to do (like sports, make up etc)
All my friends ended up getting fed up since I couldn't hang out with them outside of work or school and one day I got fed up too and decided to take a sick day from work. I told my mom I was gonna have a girls night and she said to me, as long as you have money for your bills idc.
I was 17....best decision of my life! It was a Sunday so I knew I had to be home before long since I had school the next morning. All my homework was done and my best friend dolled me up that night...hair, makeup. I felt like a million bucks and happy I didn't smell of food (I worked at a restaurant as a waitress) we literally were all hanging out and deciding what to get into that night when one of our friends walks in with this man I had never met before. He had a gorgeous smile and his hair was long and curly. Dark skin and a little on the shorter side but I was intrigued.
He started introducing himself to everyone and then he came over to me, took my hand and kissed it, told me my hair was beautiful and told me his name. At that point I was a little weirded out but slightly starstruck by him. My best friend stood up and told him, you're in luck...she never comes out! We talked all night and from there it was history.
We got married two years later, everyone doubted us but we just knew! Fast forward, now I'm a retired stay at home soon to be mom. I saved my money from all those years and worked myself up the ladder and finally retired at the age of 27 (6 months ago) were expecting our first and he takes care of all of our bills and put us in a nice home on the country side.
Today I was just sitting here, 4 months pregnant and so grateful for my love who took my breath away 10 years ago.
Never let anyone doubt what you want to do!
