There goes my overthinking again

Jeez my social skills are going so downhill I overthink every single thing I say. So my son spent the night at a friends house last night and the dad just dropped him off at home and when I was saying bye I said “thanks for taking him!” After that I realized it kinda sounded like I meant thanks for taking him as in babysitting for the night but that’s not what I meant at all I feel like I should have said “thanks for having him over”. Do you thi by me saying “thanks for taking him” I sounded rude? Honestly? Or am I just overthinking it and what I said sounded perfectly fine.
